Spend time learning with your high school science counterparts across the district how Pivot could be leveraged to facilitate a focus on science (lab) skills that both challenges students, and is sustainable for teachers. View models of how Pivot can be used to augment physical labs you are already doing, and to provide automated, individualized feedback to students on their unique data sets. Working with colleagues to adapt or create your own rigorous, and differentiated learning tasks using Pivot Interactives.
Target Audience: Teachers 6-8 Teachers 9-12, Special Educators
We see a wide range of students in our Intro Physics classes. We would love to share some of our best practices around creating and modifying curriculum to make all students feel seen, comfortable, and challenged in our classroom. As we move to a truly multi-level environment we feel we need curriculum in place that provides on-ramps to build skills, as well as many options for students to grow at whatever level they are at. We have been exploring with choose-your-own-adventure style assignments and more explicit leveled practice. Not just more for a challenge, but something different.
Educators who attend our session will be exposed to what we have tried and how we implement it with our predominately 9th grade physics classes as well as be given time to try out some of these strategies for themselves.
