Almost 100% of Newton's teachers are SEI-endorsed (endorsed in Sheltered English Instruction) and all teachers teach the academic language of their content area! Let's look at curricular materials' existing language supports for all learners, especially English learners, and/or identify what additional ELL supports could be embedded. Attendees should come ready to work with a curriculum unit, bringing the unit of their choice to the session. Educators will embed the following into existing units as needed: learning objectives, language objectives, strategic home language supports, visuals, and/or other language-enhanced supports. Intended outcomes for educators include: explore existing language supports in a unit, embed enhanced language supports, and explore AI as a resource for making some of this easier.
