Workshop Description:
This workshop is designed for grades 3-5 teachers who are excited to learn and discover how adding a taste of productive struggle and rigor to math tasks helps to create deep thinkers and lovers of math.
This highly participatory workshop will provide selected tasks that will be the building blocks of allowing all students to persevere, to have aha moments and to find joy in the struggle.
Teachers will engage in various games, tasks, and experiences that will help start to young mathematician bybringing productive struggle and rigor into the classroom.


Participant Outcomes
Discuss and participate in activities that help to define and realize the importance of productive struggle
· Investigate different strategies that will help to build and provoke a culture of productive struggle in the math classroom
Discover strategies that take current-problems and infuse them with rigor.
Learn how a classroom full of productive struggle builds rich discourse, better understandings, and more confidence in mathematics
