As classrooms across the country continue diversifying, more mainstream teachers are welcoming newly arrived immigrant students with limited English proficiency. This presentation arms educators with key knowledge and actionable practices to drive academic achievement for these unique newcomer learners.

This workshop provides teachers with research-based strategies to simultaneously develop newcomer English language abilities while addressing grade-level standards. Participants will examine proven techniques for scaffolds, differentiation, and oral language growth. The presentation aims to build instructional capacity and confidence for empowering newcomers through responsive teaching and culturally inclusive classrooms where diverse learners thrive. Participants will leave with practical approaches that will enhance the educational experience for newcomers.
Outcomes:
