Target Audience: Teachers PK-5, Para Professionals

In this session, we will present ScratchJr, a programming app designed specifically for children ages 4-8 to learn computer science concepts in a playful and developmentally appropriate way. Additionally, we will present the Coding as Another Language - ScratchJr curriculum, which positions coding as a means for self-expression and communication by integrating key literacy concepts into the instructional design. The ScratchJr app, the curriculum, and pedagogical framework have all been created by the DevTech Research Group based upon 20 years of research and development. Educators will learn how to use ScratchJr in the classroom to help foster creativity, computational thinking, storytelling, problem solving, collaboration, and so much more!
